A category 3 hurricane has been predicted to hit the area of coastline immediately south of New Orleans.
Rita, currently a tropical storm, is passing the Bahamas but has been predicted to intensify to a category-three hurricane when it makes landfall along the Texas/Mexico coast on Friday.
