TPG extends cover

Travel Protection Group (TPG) has extended self-issue facilities to brokers for backpacker and longstay products. It has previously provided these services for standard single trip and annual multi-trip travel insurance products.

Flood costs

The Federation of Small Businesses South East policy unit suggested in its newly published Autumn 2000 Flood Survey that more than 42% of businesses, surveyed estimated flooding had cost them in excess of £50 000. The report stated 63% of respondents were satisfied their insurers had been fair in the final settlement offer.

Trenwick capacity

Trenwick Managing Agents has announced that capacity for its Lloyd's Syndicate 839 will be £315m for the 2003 year of account. The company announced today that £215m of Syndicate 839's total capacity will be subscribed by Trenwick Group Ltd.

ABI conference

Sir Howard Davies, Patricia Hewitt MP and Ron Sandler will be among the high profile speakers at the ABI's first national conference on 10 April 2003.

The full conference agenda will be announced soon after Christmas. The event will be held at the QEII Conference Centre in Westminster.

New Liberty market

Lloyd's managing agency Liberty Syndicates has announced its intention to launch into the personal accident market.

Risk standard

Zurich Municipal has welcomed the government's call for the development of a "risk standard".

New PI law

The government will legislate to give courts the power to order periodical payments in personal injury claims.

The Courts Bill would give the Lord Chancellor more power in personal injury awards.
