BDML Connect is claiming an industry first by pro-actively targeting grey import buyers. The Portsmouth-based intermediary has launched a bespoke import insurance product which will be sold under its flagship brand, MasterQuote.

It provides Uninsured Loss Recovery and RAC Breakdown cover, as well as optional warranty cover.

BDML Connect has linked with a specialist network of bodyshops with expertise in acquiring parts for grey imports.

"Many motorists recognise the cost savings that can be obtained by using specialists to source grey and parallel imports," said managing director Sandy Dunn. But a recent poll of drivers revealed 45% wouldn't consider buying from abroad. "One of the main reasons was concern about insurance."

The move comes as the Government reconsiders lifting limits on grey imports.
