The average insurance professional spends around 70 days each year out of the office, seriously hampering productivity, according to a BlackBerry/Insurance Times report.

Dealing with emails soaks up nearly ten hours each month for 40% of the industry and 35% of respondents said their preferred mode of communication was by email.

The report stated: "Time spent out of the office is hampering productivity for the UK insurance industry.

"To compound the frustration created by 'dead time' spent out of the office, eg travelling between meetings, 39% of UK insurance professionals are currently wasting more than half an hour each day managing their inbox."
