The Master of the Rolls has released its working party report on structured settlements.

The report recommended that claimants be able to recover the cost of independent financial advice and a pilot scheme to urge better use of interim payments.

It also recommended discussion on setting up a future right to force structured settlements on claimants.

Working party member Malcolm Henke of Greenwoods said the document was open to consultation, with Foil, Apil and the Law Society expected to contribute. The Lord Chancellor will then instruct lawyers on which recommendations have been adopted.
