Award given for best performance

The Insurance Institute of Leicester has made its annual awards, including the prize for best performance in achieving fellowship status, which was awarded to Karen Stokes from James Hampden (pictured).

Stokes was originally an account executive, handling City-based blue chip property owners, when, in March 2004, she was involved in a serious car accident in which her car was hit by another driver. The other driver died, and Stokes was so badly injured she had to take two years off work.

She returned to James Henderson to work in the training and compliance division, where she retrained, completing the NVQ level five, which is equivalent to a master’s degree. This became the platform for her FCII.

Stokes is now working for James Hampden’s international division.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
