MPs insurance claims and excuses hit the papers
Barton Labour MP Shona McIsaac claimed £74 insurance on her Hotpoint washer-dryer on MPs expenses the Scunthorpe Telegraph reports.
The Times reports that shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley, claimed the £398.92 cost of a home insurance policy, which listed a medal valued at £2,022 and a painting by DDD Ferris, entitled Hotel Tropical Island, valued at £1,506.
The Guardian reports that Labour MP for Falkirk Eric Joyce the had to repay the £1,000 costs of the trip to Rwanda and Congo that he had been put on his Commons travelcard because of missed flights on the trip.
Joyce claimed the genocide prevention all-party group's backers failed to repay him quickly in a wrangle over reclaiming the money from their insurers.
