Angus Osborne-White, director and head of technical development at Crawford and Company Forensic Accountancy Services, reveals why the firm should win the Claims Partner of the Year category at the 2022 Insurance Times Awards

Why did you want to enter the Claims Partner of the Year category?

Relationships are key to development and growth at Crawford and Company - acting as an efficient and progressive claims partner also ensures the best outcomes for policyholders.

Our entry illustrates how Crawford and Company combines people and technology in a unique way, offering greater levels of support for our clients following the unprecedented demand for loss adjusting services as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The challenge arising from Covid-19-related judgements passed down in 2021 was that a number of our insurer clients had to respond quickly to decisions and pay out claims for Covid-related interruptions.

The volume of claims was such that there was insufficient capacity in the market for traditional business interruption loss adjusting services to manage all of these claims without significant delays.

What do you think makes your entry stand out or different from your competition?

Our definitive differentiation in the market is that we worked to our people strengths.

We provided training to upskill experienced adjusters, giving them the confidence to manage business interruption claims. International colleagues in Australia also provided additional accountancy support.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning this award would be a huge recognition of the effort that was put into resolving Covid-19 claims by our technical team and the adjusters who adapted to the change of role as a result of the pandemic.

Much of this occurred as the country woke up from a series of lockdowns, meaning that they had to balance increasing business as usual claims with the existing caseload of Covid-related claims.
