Insurer joins Legal Expenses Insurance Group

Specialist insurer IGI has joined the Legal Expenses Insurance Group (LEIG).

The LEIG was established in 2006 by a number of leading legal expenses insurers and intermediaries to help protect and advance the rights of claimants to justice and fair levels of compensation.

By reviewing legislative, trade body and regulatory proposals that concern issues of compensation, the group then provides information and comment on these current issues to ensure the interests of consumers and legal expenses policyholders are protected.

There are currently nine members of the group and it is estimated that these members account for over half of the BTE and ATE legal expenses insurance market.

Keith Wardell, managing director of IGI Insurance said: “The work the group does is vital as it really sets out to protect the most important person in the whole claims process – the injured party.

“We feel it is very important to be part of such a knowledgeable and well established group and look forward to contributing to its ongoing success.”
