Decision on compensation now set for later this year

Insurers have been left in limbo over pleural plaques after the Government delayed a decision on compensation until after the parliamentary recess.

Insurers will have to wait for a decision until after October 21, when MPs' holidays end.

Justice Secretary Jack Straw, who had previously promised a decision before today's recess, failed to give a reason why the decision had been delayed.
