PI specialist warns shipping firms in north they could face losses.

Shipping firms based in ports in the north and north-east of Scotland have been warned to take precautions to avoid falling victim to organised human trafficking.

Professional indemnity specialist Itic has told them that trafficking gangs could leave firms nursing substantial losses and lead to fines and penalties from immigration authorities.

In addition, agents could be liable for detention and repatriation costs if migrants are apprehended.
