Racing legend says he didn't cause Aviva's largest ever repair claim
Racing legend Jackie Stewart has denied claims he crashed a Zonda supercar, which has cost Aviva £300,000, making it the insurer's largest ever repair claim.
Stewart was initially thought to be behind the wheel of the Pagani Zonda S when it hit mud on a country road, spun out of control, struck a telegraph pole and went through a fence.
But Stewart has since denied the claim, and Insurance Times understands he was not in any way involved in the crash in Aberdeen in September last year.
An Aviva spokesman said: "Although the vehicle was badly damaged, Aviva decided that the car may be repairable and set about making arrangements for the car to be shipped across to Modena, Italy, home of Pagani, the vehicle manufacturer."
Only ten Zondas of its type are made every year, costing £500,000 each.
