Phil Barton will step in to manage Jelf Lampier arm

Four staff have resigned from the Jelf Group’s operations in Bristol and plan to start a new broker.

Jelf Lampier managing director Simon James, and account director Graham White have resigned from Jelf, which acquired Jelf Lampier in 2007.

Jelf Professions managing director, Ian Burgess, and director, Danny Shore, have resigned from the group’s specialist professional indemnity broking arm.

Jelf chief executive (insurance) Phil Barton said: “I’m disappointed these guys made the decision. It’s very much a lifestyle decision for them.

“They wanted to have a go at running their own business, running their own show.”

All four staff resigned last week and will be on gardening leave for 12 months.

Jelf Group chief executive, Alex Alway, confirmed the resignations and added: “It’s business as usual from our perspective.”

Jelf sent a letter to its panel insurers confirming the resignations.

Barton will take over management of the Jelf Lampier business from James immediately, until a replacement is found.

Biba board member Jerry Wilson will take over the interim management of Jelf Professions on an interim basis.

Jelf acquired the John Lampier & Sons brokerage in 2007, and rebranded the business as Jelf Lampier in October 2010.
