The Guild of Valuers and Jewellers (GVJ) has launched a claims management service to tackle complicated claims.

The GVJ scheme, which provides discounts for insurers, aims to tackle the problems arising from claims for specialised jewellery. Customers will be given the opportunity to purchase a replacement from the store where they originally bought the item.

It is backed by a nationwide network of jewellers and a database with £350m of valuations which holds records that identify duplicate claims and ensure settlement values are not falsely inflated.

GVJ business development manager Matt Addis said: "It's incredible that some insurers have little option but to accept customers' opinions on the value of their jewellery."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
