Finance director move comes after 20 years with Aviva

Former Aviva director John Kennedy has joined Norwich-based claims management firm Validus-IVC.

Kennedy, set to start in July, will become finance director at Validus after leaving Aviva in March following 20 years at the insurer.

He will link with former Aviva UK finance director Philip Easter, now chairman at Validus, and will report to Validus chief executive Mike Srokowski.

At Aviva, Kennedy was involved in the launch of its Club 110 offering for mid-market brokers, its Broker Independence Group for small brokers and, most recently, its Personal Best service, aimed at bringing its personal lines broker pricing in line with its direct policyholders.

Kennedy said: “Validus offered me a unique opportunity to join one of the insurance industry’s most innovative businesses.

“ The past 20 years at Aviva have been fantastic. However, I'm really excited at the prospect of moving to a dynamic, entrepreneurial business like Validus.”

Meanwhile, Aviva has appointed Sam Hudson as its new head of broker personal lines. Hudson has worked at Aviva for the past five years.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
