Kiln has estimated its losses from Hurricane Katrina as £80m to 100m.
The loss affects the group's property catastrophe reinsurance, property and marine portfolios of business.
Kiln said the equivalent loss to shareholders would be between £30m and £35m.
The estimate is based on a total insured market loss of $40bn (£21.8bn).
