Liberty Syndicates has appointed a three person specialist reinsurance team from Gerling Global Reinsurance Company to Syndicate 282.
The team, which consists of Dieter Winkel, Gaby Weiler and Bernd Burelbach, will join Liberty on 1 December and initially intends to write $30m of premium income.
Liberty managing director Sean Dalton said: "We have been looking for a quality reinsurance team for some time to complement and enhance the book already written by Andrew Elliott, active underwriter for syndicate 282. The situation at Gerling provided us with an extremely attractive opportunity."
