Liberty International Underwriters (LIU) is to develop its regional presence further with the opening of up to four new offices.

The company, which is part of Liberty International, will target a number of "key" areas as part of a five-year strategy to strengthen its regional professional liability book.

Liberty, which also specialises in marine, energy, engineering and casualty insurance, currently has regional offices in both Manchester and Bristol, as well as its headquarters in London.

LIU UK chief executive Sean Rocks told Insurance Times the company was also looking to expand its regional product lines.

Rocks said: "Other lines that we currently write in London may provide an opportunity in the regions and we are looking beyond that as well."

Meanwhile, as part of its professional indemnity (PI) drive in the South West, LIU has appointed Richard Mason, a former Royal & SunAlliance senior technical underwriter for professional and financial risks.

Rocks said: "We've been developing Bristol as a key location as it opens up the South West and provides us with a base for the Midlands and Wales.

"Bristol is the centre for PI and directors' and officers' for certain brokers, particularly small commercial businesses, so we are hoping to be able to penetrate some of that business."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
