Steve Hearns succeeds Graham Clarke

The London and International Insurance Brokers’ Association (Liiba), the association that represents Lloyd’s brokers in the London and international markets, has appointed Willis Group deputy chief executive Steve Hearn as its chairman.

Hearn succeeds Miller chief executive Graham Clarke who continues as deputy chairman of Liiba, the position formerly held by Hearn.

On his appointment, Hearn said: “The broking community has a vital role to play in ensuring that London continues to be unrivalled as the pre-eminent centre of excellence for specialisty and large and complex reinsurance and insurance business. I am honoured to have been chosen to chair this important body at this critical time for the the London market.

“Liiba’s top priority is to ensure that London remains where the world wants to do its insurance and reinsurance business. There are many aspects to this challenge. For example, attracting and developing the best possible talent; innovation of product and process; appropriate and proportionate regulation; and ensuring the highest possible professional standards.”

Hearn was appointed Willis Group deputy chief executive in January 2013. He has also been chairman and chief executive of Willis Global since December 2011 and is responsible for Willis’s wholesale, specialist insurance and reinsurance brokerage and consulting services.
