Legal expenses and medico-legal agency provider Litcomp has welcomed the withdrawal of the insurers' appeal in the Woollard case.

The Woollard v Fowler appeal was withdrawn with the agreement of the insurers and means that there is now certainty that medical reports and agency fees will be recoverable.

Fixed tariffs have been agreed for GP, orthopaedic and A&E reports and in addition to this a new, more streamlined process has been put into place, where insurers can be invoiced directly for medical reports, ensuring improved cashflow.

As of 1 May 2007 VAT is also applicable to medical reports.
