Matthew Hogg moves from Marsh to lead new strategic assets division

Liberty International Underwriters Europe has appointed Matthew Hogg as vice president to lead a new strategic assets division that will develop and underwrite a range of specialist risks including intellectual property, reputational risks, cyber insurances and non-material damage business interruption.

Hogg joined LIU Europe in January 2010 and is based in London. He has a global remit for Liberty International Underwriters to underwrite these specialist risks, which will complement many existing lines of business.

Hogg joined from Marsh where he spent two years as Europe, Middle East and Africa technology leader.

Sean Rocks, LIU Europe’s chief executive said: “We are continually looking to broaden the scope of our offering into non-traditional areas of coverage and the appointment of Matthew Hogg will allow us to offer insurance for some of the newer risks that increasingly represent a growing exposure for many businesses.

"Matthew’s exceptional experience makes him the ideal person to spearhead LIU’s global drive into these new areas of risk and we will look to grow the team over time.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
