Lloyd’s has snapped up yet another high profile market figure as it looks to strengthen its senior management team.

Jose Ribeiro, previously Willis’ managing director for Latin America and a member of its international management team, has been appointed as director of international markets and business development.

The appointment comes just one week after Lloyd’s captured the services of former Hiscox chief operating officer and G6 chairman, Sue Langley.

Ribeiro, who will be responsible for promoting the market across the globe, seeking new business opportunities and monitoring the development of emerging markets, will work closely with Langley, the new director of market operations and North America.

Lloyd’s chief executive Richard Ward said: “This is an important step forward for Lloyd’s and I am delighted that Jose has joined us. Jose has worked as a broker, underwriter and actuary, and therefore has a wealth of experience that will be invaluable to us.”

The double appointment follows the departure of Julian James, director of worldwide markets, and Steven Haasz, who was director of market infrastructure and programme management.
