New product includes off-road and limited mileage benefits

Classic car

LV= is launching classic car insurance for vehicles over 20 years old, tailored to the needs of the typical owner.

The policy offers limited cover for periods when the vehicle is not used and kept off the road in a locked garage, such as during the winter months. It is priced to reflect the limited mileage that classic car users are likely to travel.

Cover for personal accident, personal belongings and medical expenses is included as standard, and there’s an option to add European cover.

Potential for discount

The policy is available to drivers aged 30 or older, and can be purchased over the phone. Customers who buy a classic car policy as their second car insurance policy through LV= will be given a discount.

LV= car insurance managing director Selwyn Fernandes said: “We recognise that many classic car owners don’t use their car in the same way as a regular car, so we have a created a policy tailored to their requirements.

“It includes elements that classic car owners want, such as limited cover in the winter months if the car isn’t being used.”

The policy is the first classic car policy to be offered by LV= under its own brand name, although the company previously sold Frizzell branded policies through its partner, CSMA.
