General insurance division will add 350 staff

The general insurance division of LV= has announced plans to significantly increase staff numbers in 2008 to meet its ambitious future business plans.

By the year end it expects to employ around 1,800 people – a 25% rise on two years ago.

John O’Roarke, managing director, LV= General Insurance, said: “2007 was a year of change and expansion for us. Following the introduction of the new LV= brand in March, we then launched our brokerage arm ABC Insurance, acquired Britannia Rescue, and won the Intune partnership during the year.

“We had a very successful year – a year which saw car insurance sales alone increasing by 60%. In addition, our ecommerce offering has undergone a major revamp and following the acquisition of the LV.com web address we have seen a huge increase in both quotes and sales online. We have also completely redesigned both our car and home policies making them better value and more attractive to today’s consumers.”

To meet growing demand and continue development, LV= is looking to recruit an additional 350 general insurance staff this year, to deal with car and home insurance policies plus other general insurance products being launched over the course of 2008.

The new positions will cover a broad spectrum of roles throughout the general insurance operations and will include entry level sales and customer services roles, claims advisers and technical management roles.

O’Roarke added: “2008 is set to be a year of significant growth for LV=. This is a really exciting time to join us and play a key part in developing LV= as a leading financial brand. This expansion not only means the creation of many new jobs but also great career prospects and the chance for talented people to move up in the company.

“As part of our growth strategy, and continued emphasis on customer service, we will be making a huge investment in training and development for both new and existing staff members.

“As a mutual organisation, LV= exists wholly for the benefit of its members. Its philosophy is to put its members first and ensure they benefit from everything the company does.”
