The new senior independent director has 14 years experience at Ageas
LV=General Insurance (LV=GI) has appointed a new senior independent director.
Barry Smith was previously the chief executive and non-executive director at Ageas UK.
He will join the board on the 1 November as a member of the audit, risk and nomination and renumeration committees.
And in addition to this he will serve as a chair for connected home insurance broker Neos.
He will continue as non-executive director at Uinsure which he began in 2016, a B2B general insurance provider where he supported the firm’s growth.
Alan Cook, chairman at LV= GI, said: “Having spent over 20 years working in insurance, Barry has an exceptional understanding of the insurance industry and I’m in no doubt that he’ll contribute a significant amount to our business.
“Barry’s experience working with insurtechs will also be extremely valuable, particularly at a time when we’re transforming our own digital capabilities. I’m very pleased to welcome Barry to the Board and look forward to working with him.”
Smith brings experience across the insurance and insurtech industry. He worked at Ageas for 14 years.
