Former Allianz marine hull underwriter switches to Markel

Markel Internationa has strengthened its marine and energy division with the appointment of Daniel McCarthy as an underwriter within its hull and war team.

McCarthy has over ten years’ experience in marine insurance, most recently as marine hull underwriter at Allianz.

Jason Page, who heads the hull and war team, said: "I am delighted to welcome Daniel to the team and am certain that he will make a significant contribution to enhancing our book and the service we provide to our brokers."

Paul Jenks, managing director of the marine and energy Division, added: "Daniel is an extremely valuable addition to our outstanding Hull and War team. I am sure that he will play a full role in its future development."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
