Marsh has opened a major data centre which will serve as the foundation for delivering its technology services.

The European Data Centre, based in the UK, will host all corporate systems, including client-facing, placement and internet services. In addition, it will manage the company's email and other internal administrative systems.

Bruce Carnegie-Brown, chief executive and president of Marsh Europe/Middle East, said: "The opening of this data centre is an important step in automating all our processes across Europe in support of greater transparency, efficiency, contract certainty and security in insurance markets.

"It is further evidence of our commitment to playing a leading role in transforming the execution of commercial insurance in the UK and beyond."
