Customer experience director follows Maso out of the door

Paul Meehan has left AXA Insurance, Insurance Times has learnt.

The insurer’s director of customer experience has departed in the wake of former AXA Insurance UK chief executive Philippe Maso who exited last week.

An AXA spokesman confirmed Meehan's exit.

AXA is understood to be seeking an external candidate for the post of chief executive of commercial lines which has been created as part of a wider restructuring triggered by Maso's departure.

Meehan joined AXA as director of customer experience in 2008 after selling his broker business, Smart & Cook, to the French insurer in the previous year.

He left after a brief spell as co-chief executive of its broking arm, then called Venture Preference, following the appointment of Stuart Reid as sole chief executive.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
