Meehan's empire grows

Paul Meehan, AXA’s customer experience director, has expanded his empire at the insurer, taking overall responsibility for claims.

David Williams, managing director of claims, will now report to Meehan, who rejoined the insurer in a surprise move last year.

He sold his business, Smart & Cook, to AXA in 2007, and left after a brief spell as co-chief executive of its broking arm, Venture Preference, following the appointment of Stuart Reid as sole chief executive. Venture has now been rebranded as Bluefin.

Philippe Maso, AXA Insurance’s chief executive, said: “Recently customer satisfaction has improved considerably and, given that claims is the true test of customer experience, this change will further enable us to build on the significant improvements we have made.”
