Merlin makes Christmas visit pledge for new claims

Claims outfit Merlin said it is committed to ensuring any new claims received by 21 December will be offered a visit from a Merlin adjuster before Christmas.

The promise, dependent on access roads being open, comes as weather forecasters predict a further arctic blast at the weekend.

Merlin client development director Alex Kilpatrick said: “We recognise the distress and disruption weather related damage can cause to our clients’ policyholders, particularly at this time of year."

Merlin said it has seen more than three times the normal claims volumes in December to date.

A surge in insurance claims has been predicted as a result of the wintry weather.
