Moody's has downgraded its long-term senior debt ratings on AIG to Aa1 from Aaa. The ratings have been put under review for a possible further downgrade.

The ratings agency said it has also lowered AIG's debt and insurance financial strength ratings of supported entities to Aa1 from Aaa.

These ratings are also under review for a possible downgrade.

Moody's said AIG's decision to delay its 10-K filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission had sparked it to take the ratings action.
