Confidence in insurance-buying on the web is creeping up.

In a survey by carried out by BDML Connect as it readies itself to launch a new personal lines web site in April, revealed that 56% of people who buy on-line are happy to buy insurance 'virtually'. But, although more and more insurers are moving on-line, the study found that 35% still prefer face-to-face contact.

Of all questioned, 55% felt there was a security risk in giving credit card details on-line. BDML managing director Sandy Dunn said: "Most sites including ours, encrypt credit card details."
