New client management director to boost business growth

Aon in Sheffield has appointed Donald Morgan as client management director to continue the success of Eric Thorpe, who retires after 37 years at the insurance broker.

Morgan will head up the Commercial Insurance team which provides insurance and risk management programmes to mid-market companies and large corporations across the UK.

Morgan will be responsible for the retention and growth of existing clients and new business development, managing a team of client managers and using his capabilities in servicing large corporate clients. He joins a team of 190 insurance, risk and pensions experts in Aon's Sheffield office who work with South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire businesses.

A fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, he brings 20 years experience in the industry, including 12 in the Yorkshire insurance market. Prior to joining Aon, Morgan was branch managing director at Heath Lambert in Leeds. He was previously head of office for Marsh and executive director at Willis, based in both London and Leeds.

Morgan commented: "Local businesses are benefiting from exciting investments in property and infrastructure in South Yorkshire and Aon is committed to helping clients protect and grow their companies amidst new challenges and opportunities.

"The Sheffield team has gone from strength to strength in the South Yorkshire insurance market, building upon its reputation for delivering quality service to clients. My key objective is to support the established team to continue to provide risk, claims and insurance broking expertise to our local clients, with the additional capabilities of our global network."

In his spare time, Morgan is a keen golfer, junior football coach, leader of local youth group and active charity worker for the British Heart Foundation and Christian Aid.

To build upon the Sheffield team's business wins, Aon has also appointed Mark Booth as business development manager to further drive growth.
