Exclusive analysis by Insurance Times of data from the Financial Ombudsman Service ranks insurers by how many complaints were upheld.

NFU Mutual is the most customer-friendly insurer according to exclusive analysis by Insurance Times of the latest complaints data from the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

The mutual insurer had the lowest rate of upheld complaints of any insurer, with only 17% of complaints made against the company between April and September 2017 upheld by the FOS.

This is five percentage points lower than the 22% upheld rate it achieved between October 2016 and March 2017, and a whopping 14 points improvement on the 31% reported for April-September 2016.

A close second to NFU with an overall upheld rate of 18% was LV=, with Esure third at 19%.

Bottom of the table came Mapfre, First Central and Red Sands.
