AA biggest rise ever news prompts shares to drive up

Car insurers’ shares rose after the AA said the average private motor premium rose 9% in the fourth quarter, with RSA up 0.9% to 129p and Admiral up 0.4% to £11.26, the FT said

The Times said Chaucer closed unchanged despite rumours that a bid for the insurer could re-emerge. Pamplona is waiting for the Financial Services Authority to allow it to increase its stake. Novae is also believed not to have ruled out another bid.
