The reinsurer is in talks with Brookfield Properties about acquiring the One Leadenhall plot.

Global reinsurer, Munich Re, is reportedly in talks to buy the plot of land where a new £400m skyscraper is being built, reports City AM.

The One Leadenhall plot is on the corner of Gracechurch Street and sits next to Lloyd’s of London.

The has been approved for a brand new, state of the art, 36-storey skyscraper, designed by a MAKE scheme.

The City of London granted approval of the plans last year, and construction is due to begin later this year when Amazon vacates the current offices.

Construction is scheduled to be complete by 2021.

Brookfield Properties currently owns the plot, but it is believed that Munich Re is interested in securing the space.

Cushman and Wakefield is handling the possible deal, but it has not yet been agreed.

Neither Munich Re or Brookfield were prepared to provide a comment.
