Internet company InsurE.com received more than 230 replies from brokers on the first day of offering to trial its new internet-based quotation system.
The system lets insurers create their own products, which brokers can download in under six seconds using the internet.
To use the service, insurers license a stand-alone system called insur-E.link. This allows them to create new products and carry out price changes instantaneously.
The system is free to brokers. To use the service, brokers have to register with insurE-com, which then gives them secure access to insurE-com's portal for the cost of a local phone call.
The company claims the system provides a faster, cheaper alternative to existing proprietary systems.
It currently provides quotations for motor insurance, but household, marine, commercial and other personal lines are expected to follow.
InsurE-com was launched last month and followed up with a direct marketing campaign to brokers.
