Relaunched claims management company New Claims Direct revealed it is in talks with Zurich, Norwich Union and AXA as it seeks to resurrect the brand on an 'ethical' basis.

Law firm Russell Jones & Walker (RJW) bought the Claims Direct brand after the previous business applied for administration in February 2003.

New Claims Direct operations manager Malcolm Crompton said the new company would operate on a different model from the first incarnation of the brand.

"You will not see the phrase 'no-win, no-fee' on any publicity. We are not going to pretend that you can get something for nothing," Crompton said.

RJW managing partner Neil Kinsella echoed the sentiment. "We need to be clear from the start about what New Claims Direct is offering to claimants, because clearly the people working on a claim need to be paid."

Kinsella said openness about the costs of the claims process would distinguish New Claims Direct from its predecessor and competitors.
