Standard Life Healthcare's chief executive, Mike Hall, has taken over the chair of the ABI's private medical insurance committee (PMIC).
For a two-year term Hall will preside over the committee of executives from major private medical insurance companies as they address issues facing the industry and work with members of the ABI Health Forum.
Issues of key importance to the industry during his term of office include FSA regulation of health insurance products, the reputation of the industry and government policy in relation to public/private partnerships (PPPs) and health funding generally.
Proposed projects will also cover consumer education and healthcare futures in light of developing technology.
ABI head of health Richard Walsh commented: "Mike Hall takes over the PMIC chair at a time when health is top of the political agenda.
"The government is going to be fighting the next election around health, and we appreciate the breadth of public and private healthcare experience that Mike brings to the Committee."
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
