CII academy roadshow
The CII is gearing up to tour the country with industry leaders to launch the first broker academy. With supporters including AXA, Zurich, Norwich Union and Fortis, the academy is aimed at providing forums for brokers to raise industry issues.

It is also understood that Biba and the IIB will publicly commit to supporting the initiative. It is the first time that the CII has come together with Biba and the IIB to push forward a programme aimed at raising the professionalism of the industry.

FSA warns on savings ads
The FSA warned insurers and broker to stop using premium savings claims which could mislead consumers in their advertising. The FSA found that more than half of motor insurance advertisements with savings claims were either unclear or misleading. It also had the same concerns with a quarter of the home insurance advertisements. Travel insurance saving claims were generally of a higher standard.

Zurich's broker offer
Zurich has launched its new Broker Alliance programme. As reported in Insurance Times (News, 7 December), the insurer is offering broker members a single account executive for both personal and commercial lines.

In-car warning launch
The UK's first full-scale test of the benefits of an in-car safety camera and accident blackspot warning system is being launched on 1 February by insurance provider yesinsurance.co.uk.

FSA deadline 'optimistic'
Consultant Moore Stephens questioned the London market's ability to meet the FSA's contract certainty deadline. It said the target of achieving between 75% and 80% compliance looked "optimistic".
