Insurer buys into french coverholder

Amlin buys FEA share

Amlin is to acquire a 95% stake in Financière Europe Assurance (FEA), the holding company of Anglo French Underwriters (AFU), the largest Lloyd’s-approved coverholder in France. AFU focuses on SME business, including property, cargo and professional liability.

Lancashire to list on LSE

Lancashire, the Bermuda-based speciality insurer, is to list on the London Stock Exchange. It launched on AIM three years ago and has a market capitalisation of £525m. Richard Brindle, chief executive, said the move would create more liquidity in the shares. “We will be open to a much bigger universe of investors, and that has to offer us more flexibility,” he said.

Arista ups instant cover

Commercial lines underwriter Arista has increased the number of instant cover packages available to independent brokers via its online trading platform. Brokers will be able to access five auto-rated products that provide instant cover for commercial vehicles, retail, office, property owners and trade and professionals.

Willis seals HRH deal

Willis has completed the $2.1bn (£1.2bn) acquisition of Hilb Rogal & Hobbs. The broker claims the purchase, agreed in June, will double its revenues and geographic presence in North America, as well as strengthening key practice areas.

Winlow joins KPMG

Mark Winlow, former personal lines boss at Zurich UK, has joined KPMG as a partner. He will drive the expansion of the firm’s business in general insurance in Europe.
