Beazley names new director roles

Lloyd’s insurer Beazley has named Rolf Tolle a non-executive director and Adrian Cox as an executive director.

Tolle has also been appointed to the insurer’s audit committee. Tolle joined the board of Beazley’s Lloyd’s managing agency, Beazley Furlonge, as a non-executive director in June this year, having retired as franchise performance director of Lloyd’s in December 2009. Cox joined Beazley in 2001 and was appointed to the board of Beazley Furlonge and head of the specialty lines division in June 2008.

Travel broker launches bespoke diabetes cover

Travel insurance broker Insurancewith has launched a bespoke travel insurance policy for people with diabetes. The broker will donate £1 from every policy sold to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to help the charity in its search for a cure for type 1 diabetes.

Torrance rallies troops against climate change

Allianz chief executive Andrew Torrance called on the insurance sector to step up its fight against climate change at a ClimateWise conference held in London this week. To mark the beginning of the United Nations Framework on Climate Change negotiations in Cancún, ClimateWise held the conference to discuss how the insurance sector could work with policymakers to manage the effects of climate change. Speaking at the event, Torrance said: “The global economy is on the path of climate change that could see temperatures going beyond 2ºC. I think it would be wrong to be in any way complacent.”
