Groupama creates new underwriting team

Groupama Insurances has created a dedicated business underwriting team for London and the south. The team has three underwriters – Therese Crowhurst, Steve Scrimgeour and Darren Carter – reporting to Dawn Dillaway, head of commercial underwriting. Crowhurst and Scrimgeour will focus on non-motor SME commercial business. Carter, a fleet underwriter, has joined from AIG.

Letts leaves RI3K

Alex Letts has stepped down as chief executive of (re)insurance technology provider RI3K following its sale to Qatari (re)insurance trade fulfilment system provider Qatarlyst. Under the deal, RI3K will effectively become the London office of Qatarlyst. Robin Merttens, currently RI3K chief operating officer, will head up the operation.

QBE aims for top five

QBE Europe property managing director Bernard Mageean has said the insurer is still looking to become a top-five UK property insurer, despite scaling back and rebranding Evergreen. QBE recently entered redundancy talks with four Evergreen staff after several key employees left. The remaining business will be rebranded QBE in December.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
