’We are building the capability and scale needed to reach our target,’ says managing director

Dickson Group has launched a new growth strategy targeting £100m in gross written premium (GWP) by 2030, supported by senior leadership appointments, a new Belfast office and a restructuring of its regional operations.

The Northern Irish broker currently writes around £50m GWP and plans to double that figure over the next five years through a combination of organic growth, recruitment and acquisitions.

As part of the strategy, the business is consolidating its network into a series of regional hubs and investing in technology to improve client service and operational efficiency.

The network will be anchored by the group’s headquarters in Omagh and a new Belfast office at The Kelvin, which the firm said will strengthen its presence in one of the region’s key commercial centres.

The broker is also seeking growth opportunities in the Republic of Ireland through its sister business, Dickson and Wilson Insurance Brokers.

Leadership investment

The expansion plans will be led by managing director Ashley Dickson, supported by three new senior appointments.

Liam Foley joins as business improvement director, overseeing technology and process development, while Michael Gray takes on the role of finance director. Richard Garrad has been appointed sales director and will be responsible for group-wide sales strategy and commercial growth.

Dickson said: “Our plan sets a clear goal for Dickson Group, doubling our business from £50m to £100m GWP over the next five years.

“The new additions to our senior leadership team add strength to the business. Coupled with the opening of our Belfast office at The Kelvin and the restructuring of our regional hubs, we are building the capability and scale needed to reach our target.”

Acquisition ambitions

Dickson said the group remains keen to acquire additional insurance brokers across Ireland as part of its growth plans.

Garrad said: “To reach £100m GWP, we are focusing on expanding our commercial client relationships while driving ambitious new business strategies.

“Our new Belfast hub at The Kelvin puts us at the heart of the business community so that we can deliver market-leading risk solutions across both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.”

Founded in 1992, Dickson Group provides commercial, corporate, personal and agricultural insurance propositions across Ireland through its network of broking businesses.
