’It is such an honour to be receiving this award for a job that I love doing,’ says non-executive director

Thomas Carroll non-executive director Ian Price has said it is an “honour” to be awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours.

Price joined the Caerphilly-based broker in April 2024 after nearly 20 years at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in Wales.

He joined the CBI in 2004 as an assistant director before becoming director for Wales in 2017.

In addition to his current position with Thomas Carroll, Price also holds advisory roles with Acorn by Synergie, Vibe Youth CIC and Gower College Swansea.

Price, who was awarded an OBE for his services to business and charity, said that “it is such an honour to be receiving this award for a job that I love doing”.

He added: “Working alongside Welsh entrepreneurs and industry leaders for so many years has given me insight, knowledge and inspiration that is second to none and it is a pleasure to be able to now impart that knowledge to other Welsh businesses and charities.

“I am totally thrilled to receive an OBE.”

Rhys Thomas, chief executive at Thomas Carroll, added: “I can’t think of anyone in Welsh business who deserves this award more than Price.

“In his role at the CBI, he has helped many businesses through some very tough economic times. His door was always open and his advice and guidance was always freely given – he is a credit to Wales.”
