Business management consultancy to discuss whether the term ‘insurtech’ is still relevant in 2023

BrokerFest 2023: Is the term insurtech now redundant?

This is the question that Greg Brown, partner at business management consultancy Oxbow Partners, will pose to delegates attending BrokerFest 2023 on Thursday 23 February, alongside unveiling the results of a very special project the firm has been working on in collaboration with Insurance Times.

BrokerFest 2023 is a one-day conference hosted by Insurance Times. This year’s event – which will be attended by brokers, insurers, MGAs, insurtechs and other sector suppliers – and will be held at Etc.venues St Paul’s from 9am.

Brown is scheduled to open the conference’s insurtech stream at 12pm with a session entitled The insurtechs making a real difference to insurers and brokers in 2023.

The meaning of ‘insurtech’

Insurtech is a sub-category of fintech, typically used to describe insurance technology firms and the innovative use of technology to drive cost savings and efficiencies compared to current models.

The phrase reportedly emerged in 2010 - but now, more than a decade on, is the term still a suitable and accurate way to describe this sector?

In this session, Brown will give a short presentation before being interviewed by Insurance Times technology editor Clare Ruel. Audience members will also be allowed time to ask their questions on this subject.

Brokers can attend BrokerFest 2023 for free. Register your place today by clicking here or read more content about the conference here.
