Ben Fletcher, director of financial crime at Allianz UK, explains his firm’s entry to the Excellence in Fraud Mitigation category
Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?

Fraud is a pervasive issue that impacts all of us and we work hard to protect our customers, business and partners against it. Insurance is there to protect people when they need it most, but fraud undermines that purpose.
Our response is an integral part of our business and something we’re incredibly proud of – which is why this category resonated with us.
What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?
At Allianz, everyone, from our board to our customer facing teams, recognises that fraud is an issue and we work collectively to tackle it. Working together to stop fraud at every stage, from product design, through to distribution and into claims, is just as important as delivering a great service for our customers.
Our nomination deserves to win because it’s not for an individual team or initiative, but an enterprise wide achievement.
What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
Our collective team are passionate about protecting all of us against the wide range of harms that fraud can cause. We work tirelessly to review processes, be on the lookout for risk, identify and integrate new technology that can help us and find the right balance of delivering for genuine customers while preventing fraud – which is not an easy thing to do.
This award would be a huge recognition for that continued effort and be felt and appreciated across the whole business.
