Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?

Elizabeth Bilney, co-founder and chief executive at Fuzzy Insurance

We founded Fuzzy in January 2024 with a clear ambition – to build a genuinely independent commercial broker combining expert advice, great people and outstanding customer service. Since then, monthly gross written premium (GWP) has grown from around £200,000 to more than £900,000, with a target of £1m per month – £12m annualised – by January 2027.

We put ourselves forward because we’re incredibly proud of that growth, but even prouder that we’ve achieved it while retaining around 90% of our customers and maintaining the personal, relationship-led service and culture that Fuzzy was built around.

What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

Fuzzy combines exceptional commercial growth with a genuinely people-led approach. We’ve grown from three founders into a substantial team of over 30 people, we have built strong insurer partnerships and achieved customer retention of circa 90%.

We now have more than 650 verified Trustpilot reviews, achieving a five out of five rating, aiming to exceed 1,000 by January. We’re also a certified B Corp, reflecting our belief that growth and responsible business should go hand in hand. We think our entry shows that a modern commercial broker can be ambitious and high-performing without losing the personal relationships and customer focus that make independent broking special.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning Commercial Lines Broker of the Year would be an incredible milestone for all of us at Fuzzy. We only started trading in January 2024, so to be recognised nationally alongside some of the UK’s leading commercial brokers already means a huge amount. The business has been built by our three founders alongside a fantastic and rapidly growing team, so this would very much be a shared achievement.

Winning would recognise their hard work, the trust our customers and insurer partners have placed in us and our belief that we could build a successful commercial broker while doing things our own way.
