Martin Henley, group chief executive at Mea Platform, explains his firm’s entry to the Excellence in AI – Service Provider category
1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?
Mea was founded by insurance operators who spent years frustrated by the drag of the back office, so we set out to solve it.

Doing that properly meant building our own technology – a proprietary domain-specific language model (dsLM) and insurance knowledge graph.
That foundation lets our AI agents become the execution layer – ingesting, extracting, classifying, validating, triaging and routing the work, leaving people to focus on judgement and exceptions.
Mea is live in production for 30 plus clients across 20 plus countries, delivering up to a 60% reduction in operating costs. We entered because that is what excellence in insurance-AI looks like.
2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?
What sets Mea apart is insurance-native technology that deploys in weeks, delivered as a modular suite.
Clients can start with a single workflow, such as submission intake or underwriting, then plug in more of Mea operations as they expand AI across the business.
Each product shares one foundation – the dsLM and knowledge graph that understand the industry’s nomenclature, and a control layer that applies each client’s rules and records lineage on every value, so an underwriter or regulator can trace every answer to its source.
Mea sits alongside existing core systems, with nothing to replace and goes live in weeks.
3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
Winning would reflect the work our clients are doing in production every day.
They are the ones proving what insurance-native AI can deliver – up to 90% cycle time compression, up to 40% more underwriting capacity and up to 99% faster submission turnaround time.
For our team, all of whom have sat in the chairs of the people we build for, it would confirm what we set out to prove. The back office is finally a solved problem – it should be invisible to the strategic decisions of our leaders.
