Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?

Stephen Taylor, head of commercial at Superscript Insurance

We entered Commercial Lines Broker of the Year because we believe Superscript offers something distinctive in the market. Our business brings together two complementary areas of commercial insurance – SME, where we meet our customers in the digital spaces they already use, and specialty, where our brokers provide bespoke advice for more complex risks. Both are built around making insurance easier to access and navigate.

Over the past year, we’ve continued to develop both sides of our proposition, combining digital innovation with specialist expertise to support businesses with different needs, at different stages of growth.

What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

There are few brokers that operate across the market quite like Superscript. Our SME business makes commercial insurance accessible through intuitive digital journeys, while our specialty business brings deep expertise and tailored solutions to more complex risks.

Crucially, these aren’t competing approaches. We use technology across both, whether that’s helping an SME customer buy cover online or removing unnecessary administration for a busy specialty client. Combined with robust year-on-year income growth, a higher online conversion and strong customer retention, we believe this balance of digital capability and human expertise makes our proposition stand out.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning would be fantastic recognition of the people and expertise across Superscript. Our SME and specialty teams serve customers with very different requirements, but share the same ambition – to make commercial insurance simpler, more relevant and more responsive. It would be particularly meaningful to have that breadth recognised, alongside the investment we’re making in our people and technology.

For us, modern broking isn’t about choosing between personal relationships and digital efficiency. It’s about bringing both together in the right way for each customer and this would recognise the progress we’re making towards that vision.
